During my almost 20 years of working for and with nonprofit organizations, I saw that the accounting at nonprofits, especially when first starting out, is often performed by volunteers or individuals who do not specialize in accounting.

This poses a problem as nonprofits grow and scale, when they apply for grant funding, when they have a financial statement audit, as they do strategic planning, and other events that require accurate recordkeeping and clear reports.

It all comes down to being of service. My experience as a CPA and former auditor allows me to use my gifts and talents to help nonprofit organizations. I want nonprofits to be positioned for success so that they can continue to do the great work that they do without unnecessary roadblocks. I want them to stay ready so that they don’t have to get ready.
